Building A Brand That Matters

If you had told me in college I would some day be an entrepreneur and business woman, I would have laughed in your face. To be honest, in some ways it’s still difficult to think of myself in that way.

Going into business however, has allowed me to see things (at least partially) in a different way. Business is attractive because it allows you to build something from the ground up that you love. Businesses can create jobs doing various things to improve the well being of people.  What we need to do, is make jobs that protect the planet for current and future generations. Someone told me the other day “only an entrepreneur would work 60 hrs weeks to avoid working 40”. It’s more like a 100 and so very true. What excites me most is the opportunity to take those 100 hours and make a difference in the world.

As we look forward to 2017, the world population just hit 7.4 billion. Imagine what it takes to shelter, feed, water and clothe that many people on this tiny planet. It is my personal opinion, that businesses have a responsibility to behave in away that protects what belongs to everyone because somewhere out there, we entreprenural types are clambering to supply the 7.4 billion what they need to enrich their lives. There is a tiny thread that connects all of us and every thing we do. The impact bad decisions make on the planet are very real and affect us all.

Our greatest mission for 2017 is to focus on the future and less on the past.  Being responsible is about doing what we do with as little impact as possible and giving back more than what we take.  It will also likely involve breaking a few rules (my specialty). As a company, we have a duty to be widely successful because that would inspire more to do the same. From there we have hope.
